"The power of light"

Scientific dissemination talk during Science Week 2019 in Madrid (given in Spanish language).

It is a fun activity that teaches through practical examples and interactive games how light is generated and the importance of optical technologies in everyday life.

The activity is aimed at high school students and the general public in order to arouse their curiosity and to demonstrate that abstract concepts such as the electric field and the generation of electromagnetic waves can be explained in a simple way using analogies and concrete examples of light emission.

This presentaton also serves to complement the Physics teachings of the institute where the propagation of light as a wave or particle is generally discussed (refraction, reflection, interference, etc.), but the explanation of how light is generated is usually avoided. This is paramount to understand the different types of light sources and their various practical optical applications in modern life.
